Terminal Island, New York: 2020. Overcrowding in the U.S. penal system has reached a breaking point. Prisons have become a monolithic Weyland Corporation, which sees the prisons full of thugs as an opportunity for televised sport.

Adrenalized inmates, a global audience of violence hungry and a spectacular, closed sand join together to form the 'Death Race', the world's largest, most brutal sporting event.

Five-time Formula One champion Jensen Ames is a man who has become an expert in survival.

After eight years of hard time, just six weeks before meeting with his family.

But when Weyland requires a driver holder of the big game, Ames is forced to submit.

Dressing the mythical Frankenstein costume corridor, the athlete becomes an instant crowd favorite, a super sports unmatched.

His face hidden by a mask of black metal, a convict will be made through a brutal challenge three days, with the trophy is the ultimate prize: freedom.
