One morning Mel, a mousy, Harri New Yorker with a thankless job and a couple less attractive boyfriend learns that the tumor in his throat was cancerous and the diagnosis is terminal.
Then, who knows so much of their work and their relationship are coming to an end.
Instead of wallowing in self-pity, she embarks on an endless spending, the kind of self-indulgent wish fulfillment that we are all about fantasies.
